When most of us hear the word “vision” grand accomplishments come to mind: Martin Luther King Jr.’s vision of racial equality, or Kennedy’s vision of landing on the moon. Have you ever had a vision? Did you feel its surge of power? Did you give your full commitment to it? Most of us believe that average folk aren’t supposed to have grand visions, only simple plans and goals, some of which work out and some of which don’t. Plans and goals are like light bulbs, which can illuminate a room, but whose energy is dispersed and can’t penetrate obstacles. I prefer the word vision, because it correctly represents the power we each have to intensely focus our energy, like a laser beam, to penetrate any obstacle. Read more on how to create your vision...
Creating a Vision for Marriage

The tricky part of creating a new vision for something like one’s marriage is that we have already tried in many unsuccessful ways to change our spouse. Asked them nicely and not so nicely to have a little more consideration for our feelings or the way we would like to do certain things. Nothing worked. So why would sitting down and writing something on a piece of paper? The difference is the same as between a light bulb and a laser beam.

Does Your Marriage Feel Like a Rerun?
Maybe it’s time to switch the channel.
• What happens when the dishes are left in the sink instead of being put in the dishwasher? When the garbage is not taken out?
• What happens when her relatives come before your golf game, or vice versa?
• What happens when work seems more important than family?
• What happens when he or she forgets your birthday?
• What happens when she spends too much on the charge cards, he on a boat?
• What happens when you don’t see eye to eye regarding disciplining your children? Their homework? Allowance? Their messy rooms?
• What happens when neither of you feel appreciated?
• What happens when the sex is only so-so?
• When there isn’t even a little touching or physical affection?
